Plot

These refractory conditions of pigmentation disorders have no ideal therapies available in Western biomedicine. However, traditional Chinese medicine has found both to be related to disharmonies in a variety of essential elements such as blood and qi. Chloasma, a common skin disease caused by excess melanin, manifests in light born or black patches on the face. Vitiligo is an acquired local skin disease characterized by blanching of skin with an obvious boundary and no subjective symptoms. Here experienced practitioners of Chinese medicine will learn the etiology and pathomechanism for each disease, medical treatment (including acupuncture and moxibustion), prognoses, advice from experts (including empirical formulas, case studies and discussions, perspectives of integralive medicine, observations from classical texts, and results of modern research.
