Három különböző történet az AIDS-ről. Clara nővér, a fiatal apáca két munkatársával az egyik dél-afrikai tengerparti faluban dolgozik. A tudatlanság elleni küzdelemben személyes áldozatot hoz a falusiakért. A másik történet szereplője Denys, aki Montrealban él, és pornószínészként keresi a kenyerét. A munkáját titkolja az anyja elől, mint ahogy azt is, hogy AIDS-fertőzött. Hamis orvosi papírokkal igazolja magát. Végül ott van Jin Ping, aki látszólag hivatalosan véradományokat gyűjt Kína elmaradott vidékein. Valójában magánorvosokkal játszik össze, és nem érdekli a falusiak biztonsága.
