TV weatherman Bill Harding is trying to get his tornado-hunter wife, Jo, to sign divorce papers so he can marry his girlfriend Melissa. Story Synopsis:
Twister delivers a swirling, hard-hitting, tornado chasing adventure that is one of the most exciting and thrilling action pictures to have been produced. The story is about two scientists, played by Hunt and Paxton, pursuing the most destructive weather front to sweep through mid-America in over a decade
DVD Picture:
Fleshtones have a slight orange-reddish hue, but otherwise color fidelity is naturally balanced with deep blacks. Images are sharp and finely detailed into backgrounds, though occasionally slight edge enhancement is noticed. Shadow detail is excellent and there are no distracting artifacts. The slightest digital noise artifact is apparent in backgrounds. The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits excellent resolution.
Soundtrack:
The 5.1-channel soundtrack for “Twister,” originally released in 1996, still stands on its own as one of the premier film soundtracks in terms of dimension and dynamics. The Dolby® Digital version, encoded at 448kbps from new 20-bit digital masters (also used for the DTS® Digital Surround audio) is a subtle but notable improvement over the previous DVD release (384kbps from 16-bit masters). The new soundtrack is slightly more refined in the high frequencies, resulting in less sibilance with the dialogue and a touch more detail in the music score. The DTS version is in turn subtly but noticeably distinct, with further refinement in the treble, and a slightly fuller low-end. Additionally, the DTS soundtrack delivers more dimensional distinctness in the spatial soundfield. It is important, however, to note that these differences are indeed subtle and both versions will perform superbly. This is truly a menacing gale-force experience of a motion picture that is a grueling challenge to the best of home theatre systems.
