Synopsis: A stunning gemstone with the image of a leaping cat inside its facets is the cause of all the hilarious ruckus in the classic comedy, "The Pink Panther." David Niven stars as Sir Charles a.k.a. “The Phantom,” a notorious thief with his eyes on Princess Dala (Cardinale) -- more specifically on her jewelry. Enter -- tripping over a rug, no doubt -- Inspector Clouseau (Sellers) whose job it is to foil the efforts of “The Phantom” to steal the famous Pink Panther gem. Henry Mancini’s inspired theme song is featured here as well as the memorable song, sung both in English and Italian, “It Had Better Be Tonight.”
With a story based on the plays of Harry Kurnitz and Marcel Achard, "A Shot In The Dark" revisits the bumbling, tumbling, stumbling antics of Paris’s notorious crimefighter, Inspector Clouseau (Sellers). This time the intrepid inspector is inadvertently assigned to the high-profile case of the murder of millionaire Benjamin Ballon’s (Sanders) chauffeur. Clouseau, in his own inimitable style, “falls” for the beautiful prime suspect, Maria Gambrelli (Sommer) much to the frustration of Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Lom).
Driven insane by the years of having to cope with the ineptitudes of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau (Sellers), Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Lom) turns master criminal in "The Pink Panther Strikes Again." Dreyfus manages to get his hands on a destructive machine that promises doomsday for the world unless the international powers meet his sole demand: the death of Clouseau! It’s anybody’s guess whether any of the 26 hitmen will get the job done, let alone find him, as he moves from one clever disguise to another. Along to assist him in eluding the assassins is sexy spy Olga who, of course, falls head-over-heels (not literally) for the very lovable Clouseau!
In this 1978 entry in the series of Inspector Clouseau romps, the entire world mourns the death of the lovable but inept Parisian detective in "Revenge Of The Pink Panther." What no one knows is that when his house is blown to bits by the ruthless drug lord Douvier (Webber), Clouseau escaped the deadly “boumb” and dons a series of hilarious disguises and travels to Hong Kong to find Douvier and thwart a 50-million franc drug deal. He is assisted by Douvier’s ex-mistress Simone Legree (Cannon) and his faithful man-servant Cato (Kwouk).
Hot on the "Trail Of The" third-time-missing "Pink Panther" diamond, Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Sellers, through outtakes and re-used footage; the film was shot after his death) is soon up to his old tricks. With rumors of an assassination attempt on the inspector’s life, Scotland Yard is concerned that it might be true. And when the plane he is on is lost, television reporter Marie Jouvet (Lumley) gets on the case and interviews acquaintances of Clouseau’s in order to gain insight on the missing man. Is he alive or isn’t he? That is the question. (Gary Reber/Tricia Littrell/Michael Coate)
