The life of the fictional rock star 'Pink' is the subject of the visually evocative cult film based upon the music and visions of the group Pink Floyd as portrayed in the album of the same title. Relationships, drug abuse, sex, childhood, WWII and fascism combine in a disturbing mix of episodic live action and lyrical animation drawn by British caricaturist Gerald Scarfe.

Notes

Story Synopsis:
Pink Floyd The Wall is the visual adaptation of the British band Pink Floyd’s landmark record album. It stars Boomtown Rats alum Bob Geldof as Pink, a rock superstar who has has too many shows, too much dope and too much adulation - so much that he is slowly going mad. Pink begins to build brick after brick in his “wall” of painful memories as he slips further away from reality. Includes songs “Comfortably Numb,” “Another Brick In The Wall, “Hey You,” and “Run Like Hell.”

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD viewed in component video is superb. Colors are refined, exhibiting a natural appearance with vibrant hues. Images are sharp and finely detailed into backgrounds, with excellent resolution. Pixelization is sometimes distracting, for a visual experience that will surely please, but is not exceptional.

Soundtrack:
The soundtrack, a 5.1-channel remastering effort is presented in Dolby Digital, consistent with the film's original theatrical Dolby Stereo 70mm release with split surrounds. The overall sonic character is aggressive, but not overpowering. The entire soundfield is energized with Pink Floyd music, in a manner that is sure to excite fans of the music. The soundtrack is worthy of commendation for utilization of sound effects with multiple channels, not just with the music. Some dated fidelity in the audio is noticeable but is far from distracting. There is also just a hint of background hiss. Deep bass is powerful and effectively visceral. The LFE kicks in very nicely with the music, delivering a solid, punchy rhythm. Occasionally, the LFE is used for effects, which can be potent, with extension down to 25 Hz. The sparse moments of dialogue sound reasonably natural and integrated with the visuals.
