Notes

Story Synopsis:
Hero is a feel-good Cinderella-story comedy that stars Geena Davis as ace TV reporter Gale Gayley who literally falls into the story of a lifetime when the plane she’s travelling on crashes into a Chicago bridge. In the smoke and darkness, she is saved by a rude, foul-mouthed “hero,” who promptly disappears into the night-leaving only his shoe behind. When Gale’s TV station offers a million dollars to the mystery man, a gentle homeless Vietnam vet, John Bubber (Garcia) appears with one shoe to claim the prize and share it with the city’s homeless. The real hero is a small-time crook, Bernie La Plante (Hoffman), whom no one believes.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 video transfer looks very good overall with slightly over saturated color. Images are sharp and the color balance appears to be accurate.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack sounds great with excellent bass, surround envelopment, and explosions that can cause speaker damage.
