He dwells in a world of external night, but the blackness is filled with sounds and scents, tastes and textures that most cannot perceive. Although attorney Matt Murdock is blind, his other four senses function with superhuman sharpness. By day, Murdock represents the downtrodden. At night he is Daredevil, a masked vigilante stalking the dark streets of the city, a relentless avenger of justice.

Story Synopsis:
Ladies and gentlemen...justice is blind, but it can be heard. Ever since Matthew Murdock’s (Affleck) father was murdered, he has devoted his life to bringing wrongdoers to justice. By day Murdock is an attorney, but by night he’s a costumed crime fighter known as "Daredevil." A superhero of sorts, especially due to the fact that he is blind, he uses supersenses that were given to him after he had been doused with an unusual radioactive isotope. His nemeses come in the way of an underworld Kingpin (Duncan) and a blade-throwing super-assassin Bullseye (Farrell). Daredevil also finds that he shares something in common with the lovely Elektra Natchios (Garner), who is now fatherless thanks to Bullseye. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits an excellent picture that should really excite fans. The picture is incredibly well contrasted, and with very nicely rendered shadow delineation for the many action scenes that take place in the extremely dark scenes set at night. Colors are incredibly saturated and perfectly follow comic book stylizations, with vivid hues and vibrant spot colors, natural fleshtones, and deep, unparalleled blacks. The scenes that flash back to Daredevil’s childhood have a bit of a desaturated appearance. Images are sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered clarity and textures. There are some instances in which edge enhancement is noticed, and occasional pixelization creates a “digital” appearance, but this is one DVD that offers a downright pleasurable viewing experience. We’ll be looking for this one on D-VHS D-Theater™, Fox! (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The 5.1 soundtrack presentations offer an incredible sonic spectacle. The fidelity of the production is one of the very best encountered to date. Tonality sounds impressively smooth, even in the midst of loud, powerful sounds. The crafting of the spatial soundstage is simply outstanding. There’s so much creativity, channel-to-channel panning, and acute directionality all around that describing the experience as remarkably holosonic™ would be an understatement. For those who utilize the “clock” configuration for loudspeaker placement, you’ll get to hear for yourself the incredible, circular soundstaging experience. And the back surround channel works really well with this sound mix too. There’s loads of creative, special, poignant sound effects that really give this soundtrack production its own personality and artistic appeal. The effects have been very well-recorded and are delivered with exemplary clarity. The music for this sound mix is also of excellent fidelity, fully permeating the listening space and having a solid, full-bodied low-end presence. Deep bass is clean, articulate, dynamic, and sometimes just downright jolting with substantial energy below 25 Hz in all channels. Last but not least, dialogue sounds impeccably natural and well-suited to the visual environments. Both audio versions are excellent, but the DTS Digital Surround™ version (poorly labeled on the jacket) slightly excels in terms of dimensional coherence and deep bass articulation. This is one of the best, most entertaining sound mixes encountered to date and should definitely be considered one of the latest and greatest home theatre demo DVDs. (Perry Sun)
