After the assassination of Tokyo's Governor by Yakuza members, the CIA bureau chief (William Atherton) for Tokyo puts out a call to an agent (Steven Seagal) that had been raised in Japan and trained by ex-Yakuza. Using his former ties, he quickly determines that a war is brewing between old-guard Yakuza members and a young, crazed leader (Takao Osawa) with ties to the Chinese Tong.

My quick rating - 4,2/10. For this new release folder to grow to over 4600 flix I haven't seen, that means I have been collecting for a while and this Steven Seagal movie has been sitting for a while now. Thanks shuffle since I have never seen it!!! ANd I won't be watching it again. Not the worst since this was made seemingly right before his flicks had gotten downright awful. More of the same with Seagal taking on everyone who stands in his way. This time it happens to be the Yakuza (Japanese mafia) and their more modern beliefs going against the Chinese Tongs. There is nearly no explanation as to why these two factions would happen to be in one another's country but who cares. It all makes for a good bloody mess. Including a couple of hand-to-hand fights sped up to cartoon proportions, and some swordplay spraying gallons more blood than a human body contains. But I am pretty sure these things are why you watch his movies. The thrown-in love interest is swept under the rug as abruptly as it is introduced so don't worry about some silly drama getting in the way. Along with some bizarre sound issues with what seems to be a confusion in languages this one is a STV gem that doesn't shine in the slightest. Only for serious Seagal fans.
