In a new psychological thriller from Blumhouse Productions and legendary screenwriter and director DAVID KOEPP (The Trigger Effect, Stir of Echoes, Panic Room) Theo Conroy (Bacon) is a successful middle-aged man whose marriage to his much younger actress wife, Susanna (Seyfried), is shredding at the seams, frayed by her secretiveness, his jealousy, and the shadow of his past. In an effort to repair their relationship, Theo and Susanna book a vacation at a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for themselves and their six-year-old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex). What at first seems like a perfect retreat distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo's grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna have revealed, even to each other.

Notes

MMy quick rating - 5,9/10. Not sure why this got knocked on IMDB, I thought it was pretty good. Granted there are some pretty slow scenes in it but this is more psychological, not jump scares. I personally am fine with that. Some pretty disturbing stuff going on in this one. Bacon does another good job in this one, very reminiscent of "Stir of Echoes" really. That "what is going on" thing. But even though it leads you down that road of wondering just that, in the end it ties everything together in a nice package at the end. I don't think this one was going to light up the box office had it made the theater but it surely is a step up from a lot of the horror that comes out as of late. Shouldn't be surprised though, David Koepp did make this and the aforementioned flick. Must be a fan of Kevin Bacon, then again, aren't we all?
